May our lives be enriched by light, love, laughter, and learning.

400 Words

For the first three years of my life I shared a nursery with my cousins. Every night, hoping to lull us to sleep, our mothers would read to us and sometimes sing. The soundtrack of our lives was their melodic voices. Reading aloud is a family tradition: my grandmother read to her children; our mother’s read to us; we read to our children and grandchildren.

I do not know if the Internet is flexible enough for me to share this treasure with people beyond the family. My hope is I can at least give you a flavor of this part of my family’s Irish heritage: the joy of telling stories and singing and reading poetry. We like to have a good crack and maybe sing a little.

It only works if others join in. Will you?
